WOULD YOU TRAVEL BACK IN TIME? A twenty-first century teacher. An eighteenth century sea captain. A journey that will bring them together, but for how long? "It's just a dream," Melissa Smith whispers as Captain Isaiah Reed offers to escort her to his cabin. The man, ruggedly handsome and dressed as though he's stepped off the set of an American Revolutionary War movie, would be over two hundred years old if he were real, which he is not. As enticing as the vision before her appears, Melissa knows with certainty that she lives in the twenty-first century. She is chaperoning her sixth-grade class as they sail aboard the schooner Shenandoah around the island of Martha's Vineyard. Her students are not visiting Plimoth Plantation, or the Boston Tea Party Museum, or the Concord Bridge reenactment. Therefore, she is dreaming. Isaiah Reed will vanish. She will wake up. How then does the touch of Isaiah's hand send bolts of electricity through her veins and ignite a fire in her heart the likes of which she's never felt before? How can a dream lasts for weeks on end? And if she's not dreaming, then Melissa's traveled back in time. Improbable. Illogical. Impossible. But here she is in 1770, uncertain how she arrived, when she'll go home, or if her heart could bare to be parted from Captain Isaiah Reed. As war looms on the horizon, only time will tell if Melissa is given a chance at life and love with Isaiah, or if she'll be swept forward once again to her previous life.

“WOW, I thought as admired the covers of all three books in this series – they are lovely.” That was before I read the book description on the back cover and noticed it said Melissa traveled back in time. This reviewer is not a fan of time travel novels, but I love history.Being a land-lubber all of my life, I was not familiar with boats of any kind. My family did sail on the SS United States when we returned from Germany ending my husband’s military assignment in Germany in 1962 – but all the terminology about sailing was foreign to me – especially on a schooner as large as the Shenandoah. Like Spike, Melissa’s cat – I was unsure about what to expect on Melissa’s trip on the Shenandoah, but instead of complaining, began reading anyway despite my views of time travel.
During the first few chapters I was getting acquainted with Melissa Smith, who was enjoying being single after divorcing her abusive husband. She had no intention of becoming romantically involved again – if ever! She was well liked by the Holmes Hole students she taught and excited about spending her fifth summer as chaperone on the annual Shenandoah trip for the graduating fifth graders from each of the five island elementary schools. Being a camera buff, she took many pictures of each trip and used them for making note cards as well as scrapbooks for each class.
On her way to board the Shenandoah Melissa contentedly thought about this two-hundred year old wonder that had been reconstructed and remodeled before Melissa was born. It had been purchased by Captain Roberts in 1958 and now was a sleek tall ship with a black hull and long masts. This year Melissa was staying in Cabin Eight, the only cabin which was left in its original state.
The first night Melissa had a vivid dream about a person named Adam replying “Ye must be relieved the Townshend Act has been repealed.” Followed by a reply, “Aye, Adam, we must all be grateful, though the cost was dear. Five men, five families. I fear the violence has only yet begun.” She had the sensation of falling….falling into a black hole. I think that is as far as I will take you because now it really becomes interesting. I will tell you that Melissa endures these dreams for two nights and wakes up in 1770 aboard the original Shenandoah and the story becomes intensely attention-grabbing.
Okay, okay….now I am a fan of time travel! Not wanting to give any spoilers, I won’t tell you about Melissa’s life in the 1770’s – you won’t be freaked out…but you will enjoy a history lesson well researched by Ms. Lisa Belcastro and cleverly turned into twists and turns that I totally believed. Faith in God was as real in 1770 as it is today. Melissa said her prayers often before 1770, but besieged God with frequent prayers after falling through the black hole. I will confess her prayers became confusing then….she was not sure for what to pray! The ending was unexpected. Lisa Belcastro did an exceptional job with this third novel and now if you will excuse me – I must read the first book in this series, Shenandoah Nights. I’ll be back in November to report on that novel. In the meantime, keep reading and thank God for writers like Lisa Belcastro.

Shenandoah Dreams Winds of Change Volume 3 Lisa Belcastro 9780986299339 Books Reviews
I have read all the Shenandoah books except Shenandoah Christmas! I am going to read that at Christmas time! Lisa has become one of my most treasured Authors! I am a Christion. I put 20 years in the USN. I also lived on a 42ft. Faro cement Cutter Ketch. And miss it very much. I am a Board Certified Hypnotherapist and have studied Astro Travel! I would like a list of all of Lisa's books!!!
I love these books - just the right mix of gentle science fiction and romance, with very mild peril. Very entertaining and engaging.
After reading the first two books in the series, I couldn't wait to read the final one in the trilogy. Lisa did not disappoint me. This book was just as entertaining as the first two. It explained many circumstances. I would recommend the trilogy for anyone who enjoys a good time travel romance.
Loved it!! Another great story, beautifully written. I have gotten lost into all three books in this series. Lisa has a way of writing that makes you feel like you are actually there. This is prequel to the first book, Shenandoah Nights. Because I like things in order, I would have loved to have read this one first.
I was a little weary when I started this book in the series. The first 2 books were wonderful, but had already hinted at what had happened to the heroine of the third book. My worries were quickly put to rest. Knowing what happens to the characters is fine, but finding out how those things happened was very intriguing. Highly recommend this entire series to anyone who enjoys a non-traditional romance.
I anxiously awaited the release of Shenandoah Dreams just as much as I did Shenandoah Crossings and Shenandoah Nights and the book did not disappoint! I loved it just as much as I did the first two. The author, Lisa Belcastro, has such a great way of making you feel like you are there living the story. I could smell the ocean breeze and felt like I was on the ship. I love reading books where you connect with the characters to the point that you are disappointed when you finish the book because you feel like you have lost your friends and want to know what it going on in their world. She seamlessly brought you from the past to the present and back again and I felt this book really tied all three books together. If you want a great book to sit down and get lost in, this book (and the entire series) are the book(s) for you! I just ordered the fourth Shenandoah book, A Shenandoah Christmas, and cannot wait to get it!
Shenandoah Dreams
An absolutely delightful read. If you like time travel, Colonial America, sailing, and/or godly romance. GET THIS BOOK. It absorbed me from start to finish--got to sleep pretty late for a couple of nights.
Lisa Belcastro takes the reader seamlessly back and forth from the present to the past and makes each engrossing.
Her faith and her character's faith is not an "add in" but an integral part of the story. She also had me frequently laughing aloud as her character came to terms with what was real and what was not.
This is actually the third in a 3-book series but stands well alone. In some ways I'm glad I read this one first.
The only problem I found was that I had to immediately buy books 1 and 2, and I'm delving into those pretty quickly.
